Joomla Installation Tips
Joomla Getting Started
HOW TO DO IT
1. Download the free open source JOOMLA installation software currently up to version (1.7.x).
AND
2. Upload Joomla to a web serving host - FOR FREE
a) If you already have a domain name you wish to use for your dedicated site and a web site host then use that ... OR
b) If you already have a domain name such as http://themindblower.org in use you can attach a subsidiary folder (or directory under the root) containing all the Joomla files for your site known as an add-on domain such as “meaning-to-life/ExoticCaribbean” (in this instance it is a double subsidiary folder). The resulting url of the add-on domain in this case would be themindblower.org/meaning-to-life/ExoticCaribbean/ ... OR
c) Sign up for a 000webhost.com or Lead Hoster free account and upload the Joomla software to a free add-on domain name of your choosing. The base part of the domain name varies depending not least on the country from which you apply but the front-end add-on portion is of your choosing such as "really" could become really.getenjoyment.net
SOME WRINKLE SMOOTHERS
Very basic wrinkle 1
Joomla! requires an Apache web server with PHP and a MySQL Database.
Very basic wrinkle 2
000webhost.com may not offer the fastest FTP transfer as a free service but you would know what to do about that if speed is important to you.
Very basic wrinkle 3
There are numerous Joomla versions but there is an excellent time-saving diagnostics tool (created originally for version 1.5.9) that allows you to verify easily whether all the files have been correctly uploaded to your host.
